Script Lab

WMC Script Lab is a residency and mentorship programme dedicated to delevop the feature film projects (fiction and documentary) of screenwriting talents among WMC members with the guidance of script consultants from EWA (European Women’s Audiovisual Network). The aim of the residency is to support WMC Members to produce international projects while gaining awareness on gender equality and paying attention to the representation of women in their contents.

Participation Conditions

The residency which is funded by SivilDüşün European Union programme will take place between 27 May-2 June 2019 in Assos Sivrice Longevity Hotel, Çanakkale. The transportation and accomodation of the participants will be covered by WMC Turkey. The participants with babies can choose to stay in twin rooms with their family members or babysitters. After the residency, there will be 2 more additional on-line meetings with the script consultants. The residency will be in English, thus, a good knowledge of English is essential in order to participate.
The participants who attend the ScriptLab will use the logo of WMC in the ending credits of their films.

Who can apply?

Only WMC members can apply. If you are not a WMC member, you can check our membership conditions here.
Women scriptwriters or directors who have a first draft of a script in English for a full length feature film. Fiction or documentary.

Documents to be provided:

The requested materials – to be submitted all together in one PDF, and all in English – are:

  • A project synopsis (1 page maximum)
  • A treatment (10-15 pages);
  • A director’s/scriptwriter’s intention note (3 pages maximum);
  • Project Calendar
  • Biography of the participant (2 pages maximum)

Pitching Days

WMC Turkey organize pitching days for its members to present their projects to leading production companies, distributors and sales agents in Turkey. Independent film directors and producers are having difficulties to reach big production companies and exchange their ideas with them. Pitching days project is an opportunity to gather independent filmmakers together with industry majors.

First pitching days were organized with the partnership of Turkey’s well-known production company BKM.
